Dwayne Johnson and cast rock 'Baywatch'
Baywatch is surprisingly funny with a cast that is better together than they are apart. Dwayne Johnson provides the star power. Zac Efron provides the target for so many jokes, and multiple body parts both male and female provide fodder for laughter. The humor may be juvenile, but it is never mean.
The first park contains a good balance of action and comedy with none of the comedy seeming forced. The film knows what it is (a slightly dirtier, longer version of a TV Show) and it plays to its strengths. Efron is absolutely ripped, and there is plenty of eye candy for everyone in the theater. And yes, they’re running. Alexandra Daddario plays her role straight while lighting up the screen with sheer star power. But the on screen relationship Kelly Rohrbach and John Bass, which mirrors the premise of Chuck and provides wish fulfillment, really help make this film fun.
When Johnson misses an extended period of the film, it slows. Baywatch will have you laughing as long as your swimsuit isn’t stuffed too far up your ass. If you don’t like swearing and body parts jokes, you might not enjoy this film.
