1D in 3D – ‘One Direction: This Is Us’ shows fun rise to fame for band
If you want to go see a movie that is fun and clean, One Direction: This Is Us is the film to see. The tale is about the boy band’s meteoric rise to worldwide fame.
It follows them through a concert year and features glimpses of their former lives in between clips of the members clowning around and songs from the concert. The film certainly did 3D it up, which was interesting visually, and the girls in the audience loved the close up shots of One Direction singing into the camera. It is fun to watch people having fun, and One Direction appears to be doing just that. They aren’t taking themselves or their job too seriously. They play pranks, and their security team gets it. It may be that the film only showed the lighter moments, but that is what this film is supposed to be about. Forget the VH-1 series and just go for the now. Go as a fan, see it with a bunch of fans, and just be happy. Anyone who can bring this much happiness, joy and love into other lives deserves our admiration. It may seem that the music industry is riddled with prima donnas and thugs, but One Direction is better than that. When I got the tickets to the movie, I thought I was too cool, so I would go ironically. I expected to get home and write a couple of jokes about Harry Styles and Taylor Swift, probably because I was jealous knowing that neither Swift nor Styles would write a song about me (though I am open to it). Then I was going to ask if you write a song to tell a woman that she is beautiful because she doesn’t know that she is beautiful, did you just make her ugly because now she knows she’s beautiful, which is what made her beautiful? However, One Direction: This Is Us is about a group of young men having fun and enjoying their fame while it lasts. It deserves your theater going dollar more than much of the dreck that is out now.
