In case you haven’t heard the catchy tune on one of their ads, the Jingle Cruise is a new holiday overlay for the Jungle Cruise. Fortunately, this overlay is much subtler than the Haunted Mansion Holiday or “it’s a small world” Holiday.
The story is simple. The skippers can’t go home, but have received care packages from home, which they have used to decorate their work spaces – the queue. The names of the boats have been changed.
The music played in the queue area comes from the era that the story of the Jungle Cruise is set in for the most part. They did throw in I want a hippopotamus for Christmas as a nod to the jungle theme.
There are only a couple of actually changes to the scenes that people see on the tour itself. The least subtle of these changes is the gift wrapping station.
The biggest change comes in the spiel. It is stilled filled with a lot of corny jokes, but they are sprinkled with holiday references.
“I told the expedition not to get fruitcake for the rhinos. I guess they will get the point in the end.”
“Bertha is so stinky that instead of showering her with gifts, we decided to give her the gift of showers.”
“LOOK OUT! CAROLERS! Everyone pretend like you are not at home. You’re pretty good at this. You must’ve had practice.”
It is nice to have these holiday overlays, and the Jungle Cruise is a classic. This holiday theme fits right in with the story that was crafted when the original Jungle Cruise was change into the bad joke filled cruise of today.
