The life and times of Malta Public Transport
Bus Luck
Somehow, I end up where I need to be. It may not be where I want to be. It may not be where I meant to be, but it is where I need to be and often I do not know why I need to be there.
Because one of us had to get a McDonald’s strawberry milkshake (he denies it, but we all know it’s true), we missed our last bus home. There was a long walk in front of us, so the four of us walked the person who lived the closest to the area home. Once that was done, we started walking in what I believed was the general direction of home. Quite frankly, I didn’t really know where we were, but I was confident that I wasn’t going to get us so lost that we couldn’t find out where we needed to be.
We walked and every once in a while someone would say we need to go left, and I would agree that it was probably true, but then I wouldn’t go that direction. We walked down a street, and someone said, “Hey we should go left.” Again, I agreed that we probably should, but I didn’t, so we kept going straight. When we got to the next bus stop, I thought we should look at it just to see where it goes. The 110 goes to Birkirkara Interchange and the next bus was scheduled at 22:00. It was 21:59. Did we miss it? We look up and see it coming our way. Better yet, when we get on the bus, there are two people we know.
One of them disembarks at her new place. The rest of us continue on, and true to form, none of us decides to get off at Birkirkara (or as I like to call it “mish-mish-skadu”). We all disembark four stops later and have a pleasant walk back to the residence.
