PICTURE YOUR WALT DISNEY WORLD VACATION WITH 'THE COLOR COMPANION TO WALT DISNEY WORLD'
The Unofficial Guide’s The Color Companion to Walt Disney World is a visual treasure trove of pictures and touring advice for the Walt Disney World Resort. With more than 600 full color photos (I didn’t count them, but that’s what it says on the cover), the guide provides great details that couldn’t be displayed by the printed word alone.
Some of the best photos are the ones that depict the size of crowds at different times during the day. They are taken from the same vantage point, so it is easy to gauge how crowded it is rather than trying to figure out what the crowds are by a series of numbers and metaphors. A visual representation of the size of the various resort rooms also seems much more helpful than the standard “260 square feet” notation, and a view of the same fireworks display from various vantage points will be useful when trying to pick out a seat for the fireworks over the Magic Kingdom. When I first glanced at the book, I thought that some of the humor was out of control. I wanted the facts and not some fiction thrown in. However, reading the guide all the way through allowed me to appreciate the humor more. Some of it is over the top, and the subtle humor is much funnier, but the authors were right. Keeping it light-hearted makes it much easier to read. The Unofficial Guide’s The Color Companion to Walt Disney World is meant to be a companion book to the much larger, much more comprehensive Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World. It does fine on its own as an appetite whetter for the vacation of a lifetime and the photos are a great indicator of what may find at the vacation capital of the world. |
