Adrian Paul, an orc from Weta, Stan Lee and Kevin Sorbo were some of the attractions at Salt Lake Comic Con 2013
The fourth best thing about Salt Lake City: Salt Lake Comic Con
Salt Lake Comic Con is not Salt Lake City’s first convention, but it is the best. Gathering together all of the nerds in the nerdiest city in the United States was pure genius, and Salt Lake has former SLCC Bruin basketball player Dan Farr to thank for it. (Of course, it takes more than one man to put together something as awesome as a comic con, but Farr is the face of it all.)
There are plenty of articles on penguinate.com about Salt Lake Comic Con 2013, which featured guests like Stan Lee, and about the FanX of April 2014, which featured guests like Kelly Hu, Patrick Stewart, Nathan Fillion and Karen Gillan.
The next Salt Lake Comic Con should be even bigger with Bruce Campbell, Ernie Hudson, Sam Witwer and Christopher Lloyd already announced. If the conventions weren’t enough, Salt Lake Comic Con has also teamed with the Utah Food Bank to raise awareness about hunger with the slogan “Food not Brains” and their zombie invasion of the State Capitol Building.
There is nothing like gathering with 100,000 close friends and neighbors to discuss all things Doctor Who, cosplay and Star Wars while hanging out with some of the biggest stars this side of the galaxy. Salt Lake Comic Con should just grow even with competition from other conventions, and it will be awesome to see how Farr and his crew continue to top each successive con.
