'You're Next' to waste your time and money unless you choose another film
There is nothing in You’re Next, from which good can come, but at least they got the grammar right.
If you go to a horror film to be scared in a safe environment or you go for the gore, this movie will do nothing for you. It is tense. It is bloody. You won’t care. It feels like this film was supposed to appeal to an older audience, but old people typically do not watch horror films. It opened very slowly with a lot of drama that did nothing to supply empathy for the characters. The heroine of the film is the only part not to dislike. At least, she is a strong female lead that is acted well by Sharni Vinson. There are far too many clichés and far too many twists that are revealed before they can have an impact. The only feeling, with which you will leave the theater, is one of disgust. It will feel a bit like a tomato rotting in the pit of your stomach. Yet, this film was still better than Rocky and Bullwinkle. |
