Bella Vista Farmhouses: Staying in Gozo
They called it a farmhouse, so I was expecting a cottage with a thatched roof, or something equally as quaint, surrounded by fields or pastures, maybe with a huge triangle out by the farm door that they could ring for meal time. We got something that was more akin to a castle. Sure, it wasn’t all that big, but for someone who has been living in rooms with roommates since May, having a three-story home with my own room was freeing.
The townhouse opens to a small corridor – off to the left are the stone steps. There is a place for jackets and shoes, and under the steps is a room that Harry Potter would have been proud to call home. There is no bed in this room, but it could be decently fixed up. It even has a window that opened up to the corridor.
Taking the stairs to the first floor, the landing has views of the dining room, kitchen, patio with pool, living room with TV, and the first bedroom. There is also a communal bathroom for guests that may not be staying in the room. (Every bedroom has its own bathroom.) The dining room table had breakfast laid out for the next morning courtesy of ESN, who organized the trip to Gozo.
Taking the stairs up to the next floor, there are two bedrooms, each with a balcony, an ironing room, and a communal balcony off the hallway.
The furniture throughout the farmhouse is made of light wood, and the walls are all stone. Wooden beams run across the ceiling. This was no farmhouse; it was a townhouse with plenty of space to hang out in. I stayed in Tal-Marina.
