Spider-Man: Homecoming likable but plays long
Spider-Man: Homecoming is just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man movie. Yes, the parts with Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. shine. Both actors have chemistry with Tom Holland. Zendaya and Michael Keaton also shine in this film. However, the rest of the movie is basically a slow unfolding of a drama that could have been sped up. Fortunately, the end pulls it together, and the payoff is worth it. Unfortunately, the fat left on the movie doesn’t make it go down better.
Spoiler Alert:
There is a twist. How did I not see the twist? I have no idea, but there is one. Marissa Tomei’s last line in the film is amazing! Gwyneth Paltrow is back, which is great. The film has some comedy, and the villain – much to simple a term – lives. The opening is good. With so many good things, the length of the film really makes it less than it should be.
Also, did anyone else note the spelling error in the credits? Additional 3D Converstion…
I am glad the movie ended as strongly as it did. There were just times when I felt like I could be doing something else because I was bored.
