'Moon Chosen' rises at Powell's in Portland: Pac NW and Relationship with Dog inspire series
New York Times Bestseller and local author P.C. Cast spent an evening with fans at Powell’s in Beaverton. Cast showed off her Personal Protection Dog and family member. A beautiful German Shepherd, her dog also serves as one of the main inspirations for her new series that begins with the release of Moon Chosen.
“Working dogs are way different than an ordinary dog,” says Cast. One isn’t necessarily better than the other; “they’re just different.”
The other inspiration for the new series is Oregon. People might recognize places in this new world that resemble places in the Pacific Northwest.
“Port City might be Portland,” says Cast. She fell in love with Portland during a 2009 book tour, and as a vegan, Cast says that Portland “is the Mecca.”
For fans who want to see a House of Night movie, Cast recommends “next year, when the new book comes out, get behind it big time.” There is a script and the option is available, but the project has been shelved for the moment. Getting the books back ion the best seller list will help push the movie forward.
Cast treated fans to vegan cupcakes and a small raffle for a couple of moonstones. Follow P.C. Cast on Goodreads.
