Miniatures loom large in Les Pays des Contes de Fays
Much like Disneyland Anaheim’s Storybook Canal, Les Pays des Contes Fees is a soothing boat ride through the fairy tales and other stories of the Disney Company. The biggest and most telling difference is that the miniatures in Disneyland Paris include characters from the movies.
Dopey is near a mine car. Belle sits on a fountain reading to the sheep. Chernobog rises from a tower. Even better are the characters that are seldom represented in the United States. The Emerald City from the Wizard of Oz features Dorothy and her cohorts. Peter and the Wolf are in the snow, and the Gingerbread House from Babes in the Woods represent some of the more obscure, at least for the U.S., animated films.
The miniatures are somehow magical and represent the spirit of Walt’s own collection. The boat is self-guided, so there is no storyteller to narrate the trip.
