Utah Blue Festival shows off Conservation Garden Park
The Utah Blue Festival is at the Conservation Garden Park from 9am until 4pm on September 10, 2011. Featuring booths from vendors and non-profits that are all working toward a greener, or rather bluer, future, the festival also offers live music and garden tours.
“We built these demo gardens, so that people can learn about water conservation,” says Karen Eaton, gardener and tour guide at Conservation Garden Park.
Demo gardens include everything from the traditional garden with Kentucky Blue Grass to the High Desert garden. There are also exhibits that explain soil types, what kinds of things can be added to soil and how to control pests.
Among the presenters are Phil Fabry, owner of Innovative Management Solutions, who talked about water efficiency and rebates and Gary Baker from Comfort Tech – Geothermal who discussed geothermal, how it works and how homeowners can benefit from it.
Booths from Salt Lake County Watershed Planning and Restoration, Friends of Great Salt Lake, Smile Lake City and Rocky Mountain Recycling.
Kids can get their faces painted and participate in other fun activities, and there is a rock wall in place just waiting to be climbed. The Living Planet Aquarium brought a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach and a Rainbow Boa Constrictor.
