Disney performer steals show and a heart
My sister loves a parade. This started when we were very young and made regular trips to Disneyland. Generally speaking, my mom would explain to me that I got to do some stuff, and now my sister got to choose the activity. We would then sit and wait for the parade.
One year (I must’ve been between 10 and 12 at the time), I just couldn’t stomach sitting at the parade. I was angry that we weren’t going on rides. I was tired, and I might have been a little ill, and that made waiting for this parade unbearable. Even the idea of watching the parade was unbearable.
So I sat there with my frowny face and arms crossed. The parade started up and the first couple of floats went by, and I despised every second. There was no way I was going to enjoy myself at this parade. I was going to be miserable no matter what happened.
Fortunately, magic exists at Disneyland. Today, that magic was in the form of a beautiful, young dancer in the parade. As the dancers started on their pass, one of them stopped what she was doing and came over to greet me.
That’s right. She broke formation and came over to my dark cloud and noticed me. She shook my hand, had a short conversation, and got back into formation without talking to anyone else.
I was smitten, and the rest of the parade was an enjoyable experience. Thanks to her perceptiveness and kindness, I was able to break out of my funk because she was willing to lift me up with just a little personal attention. That vacation, it was the anonymous dancer who created magic for a petulant little boy.
