Nathan Fillion, Patrick Stewart, Karen Gillan and Kelly Hu at Salt Lake Comic Con FanX 2014
The Top 5 movies on Netflix to watch for FanX
5. 48 Hrs. – This buddy cop movie features Eddie Murphy at his best with Nick Nolte playing the straight man. Murphy’s character isn’t a cop, but he plays the part as the two track down a killer. Released in 1982, this was a great film and came out before buddy cop films became cliché. Denise Crosby will be at FanX and is the reason that this movie – aside from its quality, is on this list.
4. Pet Sematary – Released in 1989, Stephen King’s classic stars Denise Crosby with 1980’s big hair. It is a horror, which moves it up the list because of some of the panels that could happen at FanX. It is better to leave the dead dead. 3. Serenity – the Top 3 is where it gets hard to organize. All three top picks are quality films with cultural implications. Adam Baldwin and the Utah Browncoats will be at FanX, which makes this film worth watching – aside from the fact that it is from Joss Whedon. 2. Who Framed Roger Rabbit? – This ground breaking film stars Charles Fleischer in the lead role as the voice of the title character. It has Disney’s and Warner Bros.’ on the screen at the same time, which is unprecedented. The special effects are great, and Christopher Lloyd as the Judge is genius. If you haven’t seen it, it is time to do so. 1. The Boondock Saints – This is at the top of the list because I still need to see it in its entirety. I have a friend who loves this film, and three of the actors are scheduled for FanX – David Della Rocco, Sean Patrick Flanery and Julie Benz. Bonus picks – Star Trek VII, Star Trek VIII, Star Trek X – These didn’t make the list simply because you can binge watch the Next Generation and be good to go. If Patrick Stewart gets announced, they may move up the list. However, LeVar Burton’s cancellation takes a little luster off the Enterprise-D. |
