What Scott 'Found on the Alcan'
When Drue Scott left Alaska, he took the Alcan Highway. Along the way, he picked up a hitchhiker and the relationship they shared took Scott on a life changing journey. That journey became the inspiration for his book Found on the Alcan.
Part of what his journey with Sam, the hitchhiker, taught Scott was how to love himself, live in the moment and let that inspire him. “Learn to love yourself and accept yourself,” says Scott. “When you do that, your mind, your soul, everything else about you is open to experiences that you would [otherwise] take for granted.” Found on the Alcan, which took about three years from writing to getting published, explores a myriad of emotions according to Scott. “The overarching one is fear and coming to grips with that fear,” says Scott. Found on the Alcan was published on Feb. 21, 2014 and can be purchased on the Internet or at the independent bookstore Bookmark It in Orlando, Fla., where Scott currently resides. He says that he wasn’t ready for everything that comes after a book has been written, including proofing, editing and creative rearranging. Scott dedicates the book to “all of the people who are hiding the adventurous side of themselves.” Read a review of the book. This article was originally published at examiner.com.
