The best Disney memories come from experiences with others
Walt Disney World 1984: Tag in the hotel room
In 1984, my family took the once in a lifetime trip to Walt Disney World. We have since been back as a family, so technically, it was a twice in a lifetime trip. However, at the time, it felt like we would probably never get back to the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT.
After what seemed like a lifetime on the plane going from California to Florida, I was dead tired. I don’t remember what we did in between the airport and getting to our hotel room for the night.
I do remember that I fell into the sleep of a child who has been overexcited, overstimulated and awake since way too early in the morning. Just as I was hitting my sleeping stride, there was a ton of commotion in the room.
My mom, sister, cousin and Grahms decided to play tag. They were jumping on beds and running around a room that was too small for the five of us.
I groaned awake, asked what they were doing, said I was trying to sleep – at which they all laughed quietly – and promptly went back to sleep. I am sure that my admonition did not actually get them to stop playing the game.
