Kindred Spirits: the Moth and the Flame
by Shad Engkilterra
Love isn’t logical. It’s hard to explain. Love draws two kindred spirits together Like a moth to the flame. The moth and the flame dance together – A dance of joy and burning desire – Until either the moth gets burned Or someone extinguishes the fire. However, no matter how short the dance is, It is one that love requires. It is only through the dance That lovers are purified by fire. And out from the other side they emerge, Burning ever higher, A shining light of love to see No longer moth and fire. Because the two are now one, Their differences are no longer a separation. Instead, they find their strength together Along with their mutual adoration. So perchance two kindred spirits draw together And they have a difference so vast, Those who do not give up too easily Will find that it’s their love that lasts. |
