Monkey finds a new home
One sunny day in the jungle, Monkey was sitting in his cabana in a tree. There was just enough of a breeze to make the day feel cool, and the open layout of the treehome allowed the wind to flow through freely. Monkey had a large bunch of bananas by the side of his chair, and he sat sipping a nice cup of tea while reading the daily Jungle News.
A call sounded from deep inside the jungle, as calls are wont to do, and Monkey would have generally ignored such a call, especially since he had everything that he needed. His jungle life was quite comfortable and only required infrequent forays to get bananas from nearby trees and tea from the slightly farther away seaport.
However, this call was different than most. It spoke to his soul and enticed him to see what exactly it was. He went forth from his home, which was very unusual because Monkey loved tea and bananas more than anything else. It was even more unusual because Monkey did not like cold tea at all.
Away he went, swinging leisurely through the jungle in the direction of the call. Monkey was careful because there were many dangerous things in the jungle, and he did not want to have to use his clobberors for more than swinging from the trees.
He arrived at the place that the call came from and saw, from his perch in the tree, several children playing. Curiosity got the better of him and he dropped down to the ground to get a closer look. As he made it to the edge of the clearing, one of the girls in the groups saw him and pretended not to notice him at all.
Monkey was smarter than that. He knew that she had seen him, but he let it go figuring it was probably her good manners that had made her demure. She scooted closer still looking at everything but him, and then she did the unthinkable. She offered Monkey a banana.
Monkey was surprised and shocked – who would give up a banana to someone else, much less a stranger? Monkey knew that he could be happy with the girl and her friends, and so he took the banana jumped in her lap and rested comfortably while eating the fruit that he loved.
As far as anyone knows, the cabana is still in the forest with its cooling tea and its ripe bunch of bananas. It may be waiting for Monkey to come home one day, but judging by the bonds formed between Monkey and his friend, that cabana will remain empty until the end of days.
