Brain Injury Association of Utah provides long term help for TBIs
According to the Utah Department of Health, 33 people in Utah visit the emergency room every day due to traumatic brain injury (TBI). The Brain Injury Association of Utah provides those individuals with resources and information.
“We can be patient and understanding with these individuals,” says Lynda Valerio, executive assistant for the Brain Injury Association of Utah.
Someone who experiences a TBI may have reduced cognitive and physical functions. They may appear to be intoxicated to people who do not know about their medical condition. During the 2010 calendar year, the Brain injury Association of Utah received 6,200 calls for help.
“When you’ve had a brain injury, there is no cure,” says Ron Roskos, executive director for the Brain Injury Association of Utah. Ron urges people to be on the safe side and call the organization, so they can get the help they need.
People who wish to contact the Brain Injury Association of Utah can call 1-800-281-8442. The Brain Injury Association of Utah traces its roots to 1984. It holds a Family and Professionals Conference every year to help educate people about options for those who experience TBI.
